To avoid an
interruption of your service, please do not place hazardous materials into your
trash.
If hazardous waste is identified, it will
be tagged and not collected.
Most paints, pesticides,
herbicides, and petroleum derivatives
such as motor oil, oil filters, and solvents are considered hazardous
wastes. All non-empty aerosol
cans are also banned from the trash. (Aerosol cans
marked "Toxic" or "Flammable" are allowed if they are
completely empty.)
Any
materials that are flammable, poisonous, or explosive
are not allowed in the trash. This includes pool
chemicals and antifreeze.
All
electronic waste,
such as televisions, computers, cell phones, radios, microwave
ovens, fluorescent light tubes/bulbs, batteries, and
other items such as thermometers, thermostats, pilot
light sensors, and some gauges that contain mercury or
other harmful materials are not allowed in the trash.
All batteries are
considered hazardous waste in California when they are
discarded. This includes all batteries of sizes AAA, AA,
C, D, button cell, 9 Volt, and all other batteries, both
rechargeable and single use. All batteries must be
recycled, or taken to a household hazardous waste
disposal facility, a universal waste handler (e.g.,
storage facility or broker), or an authorized recycling
facility.
The L.A. County HHW roundup events held every weekend
will accept used batteries.

Some retailers will take back rechargeable batteries,
which are recyclable.

Compressed gas cylinders, such as propane tanks, full or
empty, are not acceptable.
Medical waste and biological
waste are
not allowed in your trash.
Needles
and other sharps generated in home health care are not
allowed in the trash.

particular waste.
Although
tires are not considered hazardous, per se, they
are also banned from your trash and must be handled by
collector specifically licensed to do so.
We can provide that service, Click here
for more information.
State
and Federal laws require special handling for Hazardous
Wastes and there are periodic L.A. County Hazardous
Waste and E-Waste Round Ups and Used Oil Collection
Centers for proper disposal of hazardous materials for
RESIDENTIAL CUSTOMERS.
