National Waste and Recycling Workers Week Recognizes Essential Workers

Please join Athens Services in thanking our 1,500+ employees during the week of June 17th, National Waste, and Recycling Workers Week. We recognize the members of the Athens family who work hard all year to keep our communities clean, safe, and healthy.

The importance of our workers has never been clearer than during these unprecedented times. As essential employees, the men and women of this industry have been continuing their jobs throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

The best way to honor Waste and Recycling Workers Week is to ensure that every worker gets home safely every day. Please follow these tips:

  • When driving, slow down and pay extra attention when approaching or passing a collection vehicle.
  • Wash your hands before putting your waste containers out for collection. Sanitize or wipe handles and lids.
  • Make sure all trash is in a bag and bags are securely closed.
  • Do not set bags outside the cart.
