Congratulations to Amoeba Music for being awarded a Platinum recycLA Star by the Los Angeles Board of Public Works! Amoeba is truly setting an example for other Los Angeles businesses on how to incorporate environmentally sustainable efforts into everyday practices. Known as the largest independent music store in the world, Amoeba has locations in San Francisco, Berkeley, and Los Angeles.
As their recycLA service provider, Athens Services conducted a waste assessment and made recommendations that helped improve their waste diversion rate (away from landfill) from 61.5% to 75%!
Amoeba prioritizes reuse and recycling. Here are just a few examples of their commitment:
The City of Los Angeles started the recycLA program as a public-private partnership to offer customer-friendly and efficient waste and recycling services to all commercial and industrial businesses, institutions, and large multifamily buildings.
The recycLA Star program recognizes businesses that embrace recycLA’s recycling, landfill diversion, and food rescue opportunities. Since its inception, Amoeba has been actively participating to take full advantage of the program’s benefits.
Athens is a proud partner of recycLA, serving three zones that account for the largest service area in the City of Los Angeles. We are pleased to support the recycLA Star program and to recognize Amoeba Music for all of their great efforts. Thank you, Amoeba, for being a shining example to every business in Los Angeles!
