  • Residents can bring up to two (2) loads per event using a vehicle no larger than a five (5) passenger automobile or a pickup truck

Athens Services is offering Whittier residents a free clean-up collection event for electronic waste, clothing and shredding services. These events will be held rain or shine and are for Whittier residents only (please bring ID, proof of residency, or a utility bill).

Clothing Donation

  • Clothing and other items suitable for donation will be accepted.
  • No bulk items allowed.

Document Shredding

Here’s how to prepare your documents to be shredded:

  • No limit on the amount you can bring.
  • Please remove all plastic binders and binder clips.

After the documents are thoroughly shredded, the paper is recycled.

Electronic Waste Recycling

  • Allowed items: TVs, computers, monitors, printers, cell phones, and similar items
  • Not Allowed Items: batteries, appliances, dishwashers or AC units

Athens Services is proud to partner with the City of Whittier to provide collection of Household Hazardous Waste (HHW).

HHW is any product labeled:

  • toxic
  • poison
  • combustible
  • corrosive
  • flammable
  • irritant

A typical home can contain an array of household hazardous products for:

  • cleaning
  • painting
  • beautifying
  • lubricating
  • disinfecting the house, yard, workshop and garage

It is illegal to dispose of these items into a waste container, down the drain, or by abandonment.
