“I’m thankful for my Athens family, the Glendorans that I served with in the City Council and Chamber Board, as well as all the community organizations and members that supported me,” Gary said as to who he credits for the honor. “I’m also really proud of our first responders and all the time and effort that we put into revitalizing the city.”
Gary has consistently prioritized the well-being and interests of Glendorans throughout his 40+ years of living in the city. Whether it be through his efforts to preserve the Foothills or his leadership within the school board to create a conducive environment for students to thrive, he is steadfast in his commitment to better the community.
“Gary does not expect anything in return [when turning to him for support],” said 2018 Glendora Citizen of the Year recipient and Soroptimist Azusa/Glendora Director & Event Chair, Rose Wentz. “He is there to protect and care for everyone and is always ready to help.”
Gary’s impact in the community and commitment to Glendora’s future has solidified a legacy that will be felt for years to come.
“My work with the school board encapsulates everything I’ve done to this point and helps set the stage for the next generation,” said Gary.
