Event Legislation and Recycling

Athens Services can help your business comply with state recycling mandates for events and venues.

AB 2176Recycling Law for Large Events and Venues:

In 2004, the State of California passed AB 2176, a law that requires special events and public venue facilities with over 2,000 participants per day to develop and implement a solid waste management plan and implement recycling and waste reduction strategies. Click here for more information from CalRecycle. Click here for information on what constitutes as a large event or venue.

AB 341California Recycling Mandate (applies to venues and temporary events):

In October 2011, Governor Brown signed Assembly Bill 341 into law, setting a 75% recycling goal for California by Year 2020. This landmark piece of legislation mandates that all California commercial or public entities that generate 4 or more cubic yards of solid waste per week, and multifamily dwellings of 5 or more units, must arrange recycling services. Recycling compliance also applies to venues and temporary events. Click here for more information on AB 341.
