Like many hospitals, Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Park Medical Center recently found itself in need
of personal protective equipment (PPE) due to the nationwide shortage of PPE. Luckily, Kaiser
Permanente has a great relationship with Athens Services, which uses similar equipment to protect
waste collection employees. Kaiser Permanente reached out for assistance, and a few days later,
Athens delivered.
In early April, Athens donated a variety of PPE, which included hundreds of much-needed N95
facemasks that filter at least 95 percent of airborne particles and viruses. These face masks are in
high demand and help to ensure the safety of patients and healthcare providers from COVID-19.
“Athens Services is very pleased to make this donation of vital equipment to our longtime partner,
Kaiser Permanente,” said Gary Clifford, Athens Executive Vice President. “Our companies share a

protective equipment during the COVID-19 pandemic. The donation from Athens Services has been
utilized by our dedicated employees and physicians as they continued to ensure the health of our
members,” said Eugene Cho, Senior Vice President/Area Manager, Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Park
Medical Center.
