Cesar Ortiz and his daughter Angelea (Lea) are proud to be a part of a family-owned company that still believes in family values. Cesar manages a team of street-sweepers, while Lea helps businesses comply with State recycling laws, like SB 1383 designed to help reduce greenhouse gasses in California.
Cesar joined Athens in 2006. He started as an auditor, helped in dispatch, and now is an Operations Manager. He is responsible for street sweeping services in multiple cities, which includes pressure washing, graffiti removal, and porter service.
He became interested in Athens after learning about their family culture and growth opportunities.
“I was looking for a stable job that is also challenging. Athens gives a lot of opportunity to everyone who is willing to work hard.”
Cesar’s role at Athens is vital and helps the environment in communities he serves.
He’s worked at Athens for fifteen years and his favorite part about working here is the family culture.
“This company allows me to treat our employees like family. I also get to meet so many people in different communities. I love what I do, and every day is a different adventure for me.”
Lea joined Athens as a recycling coordinator (RC). Her primary duties are to visit customers and educate them about the importance of recycling, how to reduce waste, and comply with the newest state mandates.
She loves working for the same company as her dad.
“We have something new to bond over now. I’ve had the opportunity to see him grow and take on different positions. I was able to see how the company takes care of us and how he’s benefited from being a part of it all.”
For both Cesar and Lea, family is a big part of their lives, so they appreciate that Athens also values family. Athens has been family-owned and operated since 1957. It believes in hiring great people like Cesar and Lea, and providing the development to grow with the organization.
