San Bernardino County landfills “SBC” helps to meet the rising demand for efficient waste disposal in Southern California. Athens Services has managed operations for the County’s extensive network of landfills and transfer stations since 2013.

The County recently extended Athens’ exclusive contract through 2031. Athens is dedicated to providing sound landfill management, protecting the environment, and supporting the local economy for years to come.

Since Athens assumed operations in 2013, diversion of recyclables from County landfills has increased to 50 percent. There have been no reported odor or nuisance violations.

Safety First, Always

Landfill and transfer station operations have an exemplary safety record. Athens conducts daily safety huddles and weekly safety meetings for employees. The County Solid Waste Management Division and Athens jointly conduct monthly training sessions.
