Communities throughout Los Angeles County gathered with local police departments, sheriff’s stations, and first responders to observe National Night Out on Tuesday, August 2. Athens Services was pleased to support and participate in several of these events.

Athens Services is celebrating 606 days or 500,000 work hours without a lost-time incident at the City of Industry Materials Recovery Facility (MRF). The MRF operates six days a week with over 100 team members, sorting and transferring more than 3,000 tons of waste, recycling, and organics material daily from cities in Los Angeles County.

The City of Beverly Hills hosted a Climate Action Movie Night at Roxbury Park that featured food trucks, information booths, music, and activities – even Athens’ own Rocky the Recycling Raccoon stopped by.

California cities are taking steps to manage food waste in order to comply with SB 1383. The new Short-Lived Climate Pollutants (SLCP) reduction state law to reduce food waste and greenhouse gases went into effect January 2022.
